I dropped this on 3/9/10 because I remember like yesterday when "Mass Appeal" was always #1 on Rap City back when it first dropped. Then came news of Guru's illness which made it all the more worth doing. Now, since the news of news of his passing, I had to repost. Though it's not a tribute, I hope I did it justice.

New "Check The Campaign" Mixtape Review
The first mix tape from Chris Blake, entitled “Check The Campaign”, quickly caught my ear from the first track. Chris Blake’s lulling voice over the hype southern tracks at first sounds like an oxymoron, but after the first few bars, Blake blends right in while standing out at the same time. From beginning to end, I didn’t want to even point my finger in the direction of the “next” button on my car radio.

Random Thoughts
I was apart of a conversation with a very notable person last night. Though what he spoke of was unfortunate, I was much appreciative for the information. We tend to forget about those that go through the struggle prior to us, i.e. our predecessors, but in the immortal words of a great philosopher by the name of Richard Pryor, "Ya'll probably forgot, but I'll never forget"

Mannish Younggin List: Amel Larrieux
You may remember her from Groove Theory, but I remember her from my wet dreams back in grade school. Her voice was amazing and she was earthy, yet sexy without ever showing any skin. Had she switched up the game and began showing a little TNA (tits and ass) her fame would have rose, but she remained what she was. And what's even more amazing is that she ended up in my wet dreams without showing any TNA! Salute:

MALL OF MEMPHIS
The pictures say it all! This Mall was the place to be at one point. The Saturday night routine for younggins age 11-17 was make it to the mall at least 2-3 hours before it closed, walk around, hit the food court (Most of the time you either ate Steak Escape, Chick Fil A, or Sbarro), then hit the movies. The theatre looked like the joint on Last Dragon, but without the balcony! The Mall of Memphis was the only place in the city with an ice rink, but unfortunately, I never got a chance to ice skate. (Like I would really tell you a nigga had ice skates on! C'mon Fam) But anyway,it was shut down Christmas Eve of 2003 and was eventually torn down. See The Pics:
Big shit use to go down at the ice rink.

I got this picture message from my fam out in Cali that just got a cannabis card (a.k.a. Official Bio
Hip-hop artist, writer, and entrepreneur, Chris Blake is a musical visionary. His confident flow and witty lyrics are reflections of his humorous personality, outlandish demeanor, and symbolisms of life in his world.
Born and raised in Memphis, TN, a city known for its rich musical history, it was shown early in Chris Blake’s life that music would be of high relevance to him. Spitting his first rhymes at the age of five, Chris Blake would be frequently commissioned to freestyle in front of his older siblings and their friends who were twice his age. Life as well as his subject matter was “normal” back then until his father became absent, leaving his mom to take care of him and his three brothers.
With his mom working most of the time and his three older brothers consumed in an environment that lead to constant jail bids among other things, Chris Blake spent most of his young life alone. Raised by television, his imagination became bigger than his reality taking him out of the less than perfect world he knew.
Music television in the early 90s was dominated by East Coast rap, which influenced Chris Blake’s own rap style. However, the first rap album Chris Blake ever purchased was Outkast’s Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik It was then in 1994, he saw what the South had to offer. Other rappers such as Spice 1, Eightball & MJG, and Goodie Mob also became great influences in his own music.
Through his contagiously unique vocals and subject matter based on his life experiences, some good and some bad, Chris Blake’s music blends tragedy with comedy and a touch of flyness to ease the ups and downs of life. As an independent artist, Chris Blake’s authentic lyrics, various mixtapes, and internet presence has defined him in a crowded industry and has gained him fans from East Memphis to Ethiopia.
Being inspired by his daily life occurrences and driven by success, Chris Blake is passionate about going all out for what he believes in, his music.
